The Meaning Behind our Intention Rings
In 2018 when civil unrest disrupted Nicaragua we were forced to stop our education programs. The English School closed, and children stopped attending private schools that were farther from their homes, due to violence in the streets. The Nica Life team went back to the drawing board and spent months working with the local communities to determine what programs were needed most. We then developed new programs to make sure that they would be sustainable and relevant as the situation changed.
In late 2019 we launched our new programs! We are so proud of both our Well-Being & Empowerment Program and our module funding in the UPNicaragua Fellowship Program. Our Well-Being Program was developed for our women artisans, teaching them how to live and not just survive in times of crisis. The program is made up of self-help workshops, yoga & mediation classes, and individual sessions around achieving each artisan's unique goals. You can learn more about the program here.
During our 2020 product development work, we knew we wanted to create a product celebrating our Well-Being Program which would share this well-being journey with our supporters. Our customers had been asking for rings and we began researching techniques and materials that would allow us to develop a product that was true to our brand. We carefully chose the stones in our intention rings for their meaning and our artisans skillfully wrap those stones with high quality gold-filled and silver wire.
